Part Two

I kick off my shoes and hang my windbreaker. Instantly, I’m greeted by the smell of cooked onions and meat. I walk into the kitchen and, sure enough, Echo has an assortment of pots and pans on the stove and counter, all containing the contents of tonight’s dinner. I certainly won’t be needing lunch money for tomorrow.

“Oh, hi, Cupid!” She wipes her hands on her ‘Kiss the Cook’ apron. “I didn’t see you come in. How was school?”

“It was meh.” I grab an apple from the fruit basket. “Why does Zeus want me to go to school? I’m an adult.”

Echo smacks the apple out of my hand. “No eating! You’ll ruin your dinner. Plus, you know this is all part of your punishment.”

“I know. This still stinks,” I grumble.

A timer goes off, then another, and another. Echo quickly turns off the stove burners and starts pouring the food into bowls and onto plates. She pulls out a bread pan from the oven and places it on the center of the dining table. “Dinner is served!”

Before sitting down to eat, I cut off a piece of my meatloaf and burn it in the fireplace in the living room as a sacrifice to the gods. I find this all unamusing. For one, I used to be the one receiving the burnt offerings and now I’m the one making them.

I rejoin Echo at the table. She has already begun eating.

“So,” she starts, “Have you made any new friends yet?”

“I made one friend. Her name’s Molly.” I say, not looking up from my plate.

“That’s great, kiddo.”

“Please don’t call me that.”

“What? Kiddo?” Echo chuckles, “We both know I’m eons older than you; plus, if we want to seem like we’re family, we’re gonna have to act like it.”

“I guess you’re right.”

“Should I start calling you Eric as well?”

I disregard her last comment. “Why couldn’t my mother be here with me?”

“Miss Aphrodite still has her godly duties to fulfill. She asked that I take good care of you while you’re here.”

“How long will that be?”

Echo looks at me, her eyes filled with uncertainty, “Finish your dinner; I don’t want it getting cold.”

About Me!

As you all know, I go by the name, Rain (it's just an internet persona btw). My pronouns are she/her. I don't believe in astrology, but I know my star sign is a Virgo. I was born in the year of '07, and that's all you get to know about me personally.

I love to write, which was the main reason for creating this blog. I have a ton of ideas, but posting them to Tumblr lowkey scares me. That's why I like having my own little spot on the internet just for me (✿◠‿◠)
