Season 34 Episode 1

It's the season premiere and I can't wait to see what the couples have in store!

General Comments

Firstly, I was enamored by the opening number! I am so excited to see the new troupe members shine in these numbers. Also, the scream I scrumt when I noticed the lack of Carrie Ann... I lowkey am a hater and she is my biggest enemy for sure, so I'm glad we got some reasonable scoring because of her absence.

I will be going through the dances in alphabetical order instead of in order of airing because that is how I have them in my spreadsheet (yes I have a spreadsheet to track my scores lol). Anyway, let's get started!

Alix + Val

Judges Scores: 7 + 6 = 13   My Score: 7

I was not a huge fan of the song choice, but pop off I guess. She did alright for a cha-cha but there were very few moments of actual cha-cha dancing (who am I to talk; I don't even dance). A thing I notice with Val's choreography as a whole is that he (and and Gleb too) tend to lean towards more hot and sexy(?) vibes and I am not a fan of it. Altogether I think it was a good first dance.

Andy + Emma

Judges Scores: 5 + 4 = 9   My Score: 5

He's said that he's only doing this show for the paycheck and that is exactly the vibes I'm getting. I feel for Emma. #GiveEmmaBetterPartners2k25

Baron + Britt

Judges Scores: 5 + 5 = 10   My Score: 5

He looks like he's having fun, but there was little to no technique in this dance whatsoever. I love Britt, so there's that. Athletes are pretty hit or miss, so I'm curious to see how he does.

Corey + Jenna

Judges Scores: 4 + 5 = 9   My Score: 5

HE'S TRYING HIS BEST and I can't be mad at him for that.

Danielle + Pasha

Judges Scores: 6 + 6 = 12   My Score: 6

I didn't know she had cancer (oops). Anyway, she needs to work on her frame (which is normal for beginners) and complete her movements, but otherwise I enjoyed her performance. Extra point for the awesome song choice.

Dylan + Daniella

Judges Scores: 5 + 5 = 10   My Score: 3

Call me a hater because I was cringing this whole performance. Nothing felt natural. It was more like Daniella was dancing and he was added on at the last minute. Negative points for the song choice.

Elaine + Alan

Judges Scores: 6 + 6 = 12   My Score: 6

Her smile is so infectious! Her timing was a bit off at times, but I really liked the side by side they did together.

Hilaria + Gleb

Judges Scores: 7 + 7 = 14   My Score: 7

Gleb can actually choreograph when he's not flirting with his partner. Her past experience truly shows with her expressions and how comfortable she looks onstage. She was sharp with her movements and looked like she was having a great time

Jen + Jan

Judges Scores: 6 + 6 = 12   My Score: 6

Too many lifts imo. She was good in the parts where she was actually on the ground. I don't know how I feel about Jan yet, but I really want to like him

Jordan + Ezra

Judges Scores: 5 + 5 = 10   My Score: 5

Her early spot in the lineup did not help her. Ezra needs to tone himself down a tad. Again, too many acrobatics.

Lauren + Brandon

Judges Scores: 7 + 6 = 13   My Score: 5

I am super biased lol. I was a big Fifth Harmony fan back in the day, love Ariana Grande, and really like Brandon's choreography. I liked that they started dancing from the start of the song instead of walking down the steps or some other non-dancing elements that just waste time. I see a lot of potential in her and Brandon needs a win this season.

Robert + Whitney

Judges Scores: 8 + 7 = 15   My Score: 7

Who does a jive on day 1? Whitney!!!!!!!!!!!! And they killed it! I love her and I love Rob too, but I just wished they picked a better song.

Scott + Rylee

Judges Scores: 5 + 5 = 10   My Score: 3

He's so stiff that it hurt to watch. Again, I was just cringing for the whole thing. The best part was the side by side and that wasn't even tango.

Whitney + Mark

Judges Scores: 8 + 7 = 15   My Score: 6

Not my favorite dance but she was pretty good. I really wanted to see Mark as a judge this season, but we can't win them all I guess.
